The Butterfly
A multi-functional piece without a fixed role, much like the informal space it was made for- where people linger on steps, lean on walls whilst waiting for peers. Like the name suggests, the butterfly transforms itself to support the expressive actions, acting as an invitation, as opposed to an imposition.

STUDY
To understand
eating postures,
I studied students' sitting patterns on floors, chairs,
with free sizes of styrofoam they could adjust and stack,
to make themselves comfortable.
My area of study was an unnamed interval space in my college.
It had many purposes - for sitting to eat when the mess is full, waiting for peers, with endless postures of sitting, leaning, legs crossed, swaying, balancing, occupying the space.
The focus of the design was on creating a
playful, multifunctional object, using materials appropriate for comfort and structure with a custom designed to allow the
structure to lock securely at two distinct angles.
